It’s
that time of year again – the 82nd Masters starts today! We’re so
excited for the next few days and can’t wait to see who will go home with the
coveted green jacket (FORE Georgia takes a few guesses about some of the
players they think have the best chance of winning in their article here).
For
those who might not know, this major golf tournament, which began in 1934, is
played annually at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. As one of the
four major championships in professional golf, you can imagine all of the
career highlights and special moments created at the tournament over the years.
In fact, the greens alone reveal a rich history, as summarized in a recent
GolfWorld article:
“Of all the elements that make Augusta
National a championship test, the most heralded are its greens, a confounding
collection of befuddling breaks and slippery slopes. Think of the tiny shelf on
the right of the sixth green, the mammoth mounds in the 14th green, the subtle
trench at the fifth, and the nasty tongue on No. 9 that propels balls back down
the fairway.
But these are not the original green
contours. These are modified ones, considerably softened. The original greens
were even more outrageous and outlandish.”

“’It’s hard,” Johnson said during
a recent interview. “I make an educated guess, commit to the shot, swallow hard
and, when it lands safely aboard, say, ‘Amen.’ ”
We’re
looking forward to watching Zach play in the
tournament, along with past RSM Classic winners Austin
Cook (2017) and Kevin Kisner (2015).
