As the year winds down, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on just a few of the main highlights over the past 12 months!
  • We welcomed Austin Cook as the newest member of the RSM “family” after he won the eighth RSM Classic in November.
  • More than 1,100 volunteers donated their time and talents to help make the 2017 RSM Classic a success by welcoming to PGA TOUR players, RSM guests and golf fans from around the world to beautiful Sea Island.
  • We welcomed Todd Thompson as our tournament director.
  • We celebrated Team RSM Member Davis Love III as he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
  • We added quite a few new members to Team RSM: Dru Love, Paul Waring and Hinrich Arkenau
§  RSM employees, partners, principals, clients and friends raised more than $2 million for local and national charitable organizations aligned with the RSM US Foundation’s mission to build tomorrow’s middle market leaders through our Birdies Fore Love program. To date, The RSM Classic has raised more than $9 million for local and national charitable organizations that support children and their families. That number increases each year through our employee-led Birdies Fore Love program.
§  We thanked the Sea Island community and Sea Island Golf Course employees who worked together tirelessly after Hurricane Irma to restore the island – and the golf courses – to their former beauty.
§  Sea Island, home to The RSM Classic, received some incredible recognitions this year:  U.S. News released itsBest Hotels in the USA,’ and Sea Island Resorts – The Lodge and The Cloister – took the top two spots for the best in Georgia! On the overall list of the best in the USA, The Lodge ranked No. 5, and The Cloister ranked No. 55. Forbes recognized Sea Island Resorts with four Five-Star awards! Five-Star Hotels: The Cloister and The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club; Five-Star Restaurants: Georgian Room; Five-Star Spas: The Spa at Sea Island; and Recommend Restaurants: Colt & Alison
This will be our last post of 2017, as many of us here at RSM US LLP are taking time off over the next two weeks to celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year. Thank you for your continued support of Team RSM and The RSM Classic. Wishing you and yours a healthy, happy and prosperous 2018!

Another Thankful Year

In what seems like the blink of an eye, the 2017 RSM Classic has come and gone! It was another wonderful year full of new memories, winners and giving! We have so much to be proud about in this season of thanks and giving.
What makes our tournament so unique? It’s the southern hospitlaity and environment of Sea Island. To the 1,100 volunteers who give their time and talents to the tournament each year, we are so grateful for your time and warm welcome each year.   To the staff at The Lodge and The Cloister, we appreciate your making sure that our guests feel at home and that their needs are met while they’re on the island. And to our Team RSM Members who joined us at Sea Island, Davis Love III, Zach Johnson, Chris DiMarco and Dru Love, thank you for taking the time to connect with our guests and for giving them a special experience.
In addition, it was an incredible year on the ‘giving’ side. There are no words to express how much our people, clients and friends amaze us each year by showing what stewardship is all about. RSM was pleased to present the Davis Love Foundation with a check for $2,035,206 as a result of the firm’s employee-led Birdies Fore Love (BFL) campaign in connection with this year’s tournament.

Also during this year’s tournament, RSM presented a check for $10,000 to Folds of Honor, a national nonprofit focused on providing educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members.

“Having Folds of Honor as an integral part of this year’s tournament was a privilege,” said Bill Gorman, chief operating officer for RSM US LLP. “As the child of a military family, I understand the sacrifices made by those who serve, as well their families. Our Stars and Stripes employee network group, along with the rest of RSM’s 9,000 people, take great pride in supporting our nation’s veterans, and are humbled to be able to support the families of those who have been injured or lost their lives while serving our country.”
Proceeds from this year's RSM Classic will benefit Special Olympics, the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Georgia and other national and local charitable organizations aligned with the RSM US Foundation’s mission of building tomorrow’s middle market leaders by supporting organizations committed to providing a more stable environment for youth in the areas of education, hunger, housing and health as well as the mission of the Davis Love Foundation to benefit children and their families.
Check back next week for more updates on Team RSM, The RSM Classic and other golf-related news. And go ahead and mark your calendar now for next year’s RSM Classic, which will be held Nov. 12-18, 2018.
