Today’s update is from
Jada Pittman, who works out of RSM’s Birmingham office had the opportunity to
visit Sea Island for The RSM Classic this year, as a result of her leadership
role in raising charitable funds through the firm’s Birdies
Fore Love initiative. Read Jada’s first-hand account about her time at The
RSM Classic below.
Spectacular!
That’s how I would describe Sea Island. It is simply stunning. We flew into
Jacksonville, FL, which was about an hour and 15 minutes from the resort. Our
driver, Todd with his stories about gold and pirates on the island made it an
interesting ride, and the time in the car flew by. Before I even realized it,
we were pulling up to The Cloister at Sea Island where we were greeted by the
lovely staff and by RSM employees.
I
am here because my office in Birmingham, AL, raised more than $60,000 for
Birdies Fore Love. I’ve been with RSM one month shy of a year, and this was my
first time fundraising for this program but it certainly won’t be my last! I
worked with a great team, and together we collectively came up with the charity
that we wanted to sponsor, as well as fundraising ideas for our office. We made
sure that our employees had a great time raising money for a great cause. This
experience would not have been possible without them!
This
is also my first year at The RSM Classic. I am in awe of the aura and ambiance
of this place, but more so the people who occupy the space. RSM truly has the
best group of people to work with. From my home office, to here and during my
tenure at the firm, I’ve met wonderful people and it’s truly a blessing to be a
part of this firm. It was a pleasure to meet Joe Adams, our managing partner
and CEO, although he totally took me by surprise when he called me and Daniel
Koehl of the San Antonio office to the front during the reception to
congratulate us on our efforts. Everyone here has been a delight, and I am
looking forward to walking the grounds and experiencing more of what Sea Island
and The RSM Classic have to offer.
The
RSM Classic couldn’t have a better name because that is exactly what it is,
classic. Timeless. Beautiful.
