Country Music Comes to Sea Island

We are so excited to share the news! RSM US LLP, in conjunction with Davis Love Foundation, recently announced that American country music singer and songwriter, Jake Owen, will perform live in the Golden Isles during the 2017 RSM Classic in November. RSM sponsors The RSM Classic, an official PGA TOUR Event, which attracts some of the world’s most elite golfers. The Jake Owen concert is presented by Southeast Georgia Health System, and will take place Sat., Nov. 18 at McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport.

“I’m pumped to perform at The RSM Classic in the Golden Isles,” said Owen. “It’s going to be a high-energy performance in a laid-back setting.”

“We are proud to be the title sponsor of The RSM Classic, and excited to have Jake as a part of this year’s event,” said Andy Bosman, chief marketing officer with RSM. “The fact that Jake shares the charitable goals of The RSM Classic and RSM ‘sure feels right.’ We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the communities where our employees live and work through The RSM Classic and through the ongoing philanthropic efforts of our 9,000 employees nationwide, and the 41,000 employees in the RSM global network.”

Tickets can be purchased as part of the weekly ticket booklet or individually via the RSM Classic website. Individual Saturday golf/concert tickets are $50. All tickets feature “lawn seating”.  Chairs and reserved seating are not provided.  However, concert attendees are permitted to bring their own chairs. Please review the list of prohibited items before attending the concert.

In golf news, this week the live action comes from Jersey City, NJ for the President’s Cup. While no Team RSM members are playing, Davis Love III, host of the RSM Classic, will serve as assistant captain for the U.S. team. We wish the very best to everyone this weekend!

Share in the memory

Next week is monumental for Team RSM Member Davis Love III. On Tues., Sept. 26, Davis will be officially inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame – Class of 2017! The Induction Ceremony will be broadcast live on The Golf Channel at 7 p.m. ET, but they’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes footage starting at 5:45 p.m. ET. We can hardly wait to watch and share in the moment with Davis. We are so proud and send our hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Davis! Learn more about the Class of 2017 on the World Golf Hall of Fame website. They also shared a wonderful video of Davis, which you can view below:

Earlier this week, Golfweek shared the latest status update about the courses at Sea Island Resort – home of The RSM Classic – which was impacted by Hurricane Irma. Thankfully, the courses didn’t experience too much damage or flooding, but they do have a good bit of debris, which will require extensive cleanup. Read the full article by here. We’re excited to say the countdown to The RSM Classic is on – the week of Nov. 13 will be here before we know it!

Also shared this week, Team RSM Member Chris DiMarco’s son, Cristian, was featured in The Oracle in a great article about what it was like for Cristian growing up with a PGA TOUR dad and being raised on the golf course. You can read the full article here but below is an excerpt:

Now, after a stellar junior season at USF and a productive summer, DiMarco is ready to finish his collegiate career on the top of his game and follow in his father’s footsteps to join the PGA Tour.

“I’ve had a club in my hand since I could walk,” DiMarco said, minutes after completing a one-under par performance at a qualifying round at TPC Tampa Bay earlier in September.

With golfing in his blood, it was only natural that his father would have some influence over his future.

Classic Teaser

We’d like to take a moment to reflect on this past week’s natural disaster in Florida and parts of South Carolina and Georgia. Our hearts go out to all of our RSM colleagues, clients and friends in these communities as they begin to assess the damage from Hurricane Irma. Similar to the recent effect from Hurricane Harvey in Texas, the firm is pledging its support to help our people who have been affected as well as the charitable organizations are supporting relief efforts. Our hearts are with you.

Earlier this week, the PGA TOUR shared a special story about Team RSM Member Davis Love III’s locker. As an upcoming inductee to the World Golf Hall of Fame, Davis took a walk down memory lane with some of the items he will be giving to the World Golf Hall of Fame.  An excerpt from the article goes on to say:

The induction ceremony will be held at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York Cup on Sept. 26. It’s a busy week for Love, who will also be serving a second stint as an assistant captain for the U.S. Team during the Presidents Cup at Liberty National in New Jersey.

Love said it took three or four days to decide what items he wanted to loan to the World Golf Hall of Fame. Some were at his mother’s house and his agent’s office. Other pieces were on display in the clubhouses at Sea Island Resort in Georgia, where Love hosts the RSM Classic in November. He had plenty at his home, too.

This is a great article, which features a video of Davis with Dr. Tony Parker, head historian from the Golf Hall of Fame. Read the full article here.

Out on the links, the BMW Championship takes place this week in Lake Forest, IL. Playing in the tournament is Team RSM Member Zach Johnson, along with past RSM Classic winners Robert Streb (2014), Kevin Kisner (2015) and Mackenzie Hughes (2016). First to hit the course is Zach at 9 a.m. CT; teeing off at 10:06 a.m. is Kevin; Mackenzie will start at 11:55 a.m.; and Robert will tee at 1:01 p.m.. All players will start from tee No. 1. Best of luck to each of “our guys” this week!

And to wrap up this week’s post, today we are officially under the two-month mark until the 2017 RSM Classic (Nov. 13-19)! Since we can hardly wait to be back at the beautiful Sea Island, here’s a little teaser for tournament week! Get your tickets today!
