The Charitable Greens

Earlier this week, Team RSM Member Chris DiMarco shared an incredible fact: “Since 2012, golf as a fundraising vehicle has raised nearly $20 billion for charity.” Talk about an honorable feat! This is one of the main reasons our firm, RSM US LLP (“RSM”), chose to align with golf by serving as title sponsor of The RSM Classic, an official PGA TOUR event, in 2010. The game of golf and RSM share similar values (respect, integrity, excellence, teamwork and stewardship) and the philosophy that – whether in the boardroom or on the golf course – the power of any relationship comes through understanding. Since its inception, The RSM Classic has raised more than $7 million for nonprofit organizations!

Charitable contributions raised through The RSM Classic are distributed by the Davis Love Foundation (DLF), which was established in 2005 by professional golfer and Team RSM Member Davis Love III and his wife Robin. The DLF contributes to the wellbeing and progress of society by supporting both national and community-based programs that focus on children and families. Its mission is to help build a better future for families and children who are at risk of poor educational economic, social and health outcomes. Read about the contributions from last year’s tournament.

While no members of Team RSM are hitting the greens this week, we do have some friends we’ll be cheering on: past RSM Classic winners Ben Crane (2011), Chris Kirk (2013), Robert Streb (2014), Kevin Kisner (2015) and Mackenzie Hughes (2016) are all playing in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Below were their tee times for today (Thurs., April 27). Best of luck this weekend to each of them!

Calling All Volunteers

It’s hard to believe how quickly the calendar is moving along. Even with The RSM Classic still seven months away (Nov. 13-19, 2017), tournament planning is already underway. We’re seriously missing beautiful Sea Island, GA, and can hardly wait to return this fall. Each year, approximately 1,200 amazing volunteers come together to make the tournament possible. Our goal is to create a friendly and enjoyable experience for our patrons, PGA TOUR players, hospitality partners and volunteers alike. We appreciate the dedication, flexibility and friendliness of all our volunteers who work so hard to make sure the tournament reaches this goal year-after-year. For those who have volunteered with us previously, registration is NOW OPEN. If you’d like to join us at the eighth annual tournament, your volunteer application will be reviewed and you’ll be assigned to a committee, based on our needs and your committee preferences. For new volunteers, registration will open on May 15! If you are thinking about volunteering, be sure to check out the various volunteer committees opportunities. You can view them here.

This week, Team RSM Member Zach Johnson is in San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. Also playing are past RSM Classic winners Ben Crane (2011), Chris Kirk (2013), Robert Streb (2014) and Mackenzie Hughes (2016). Below are their tee times and starting points for today (Thurs., April 20).

Many things to celebrate...

It’s a special day for us here at RSM and for Team RSM, as we send the happiest of birthday wishes to an all-around family man, a winning Ryder Cup Captain, 2017 Hall of Fame-r, and the host of The RSM Classic, Davis Love III. Want to send your own birthday wishes to Davis? Leave them here in the comments section, and we’ll pass them along.

Davis is spending his birthday on the course in Hilton Head, SC for the RBC Heritage, where he’s joined by quite a few familiar faces, including past RSM Classic winners Ben Crane (2011), Tommy Gainey (2012), Chris Kirk (2013), Robert Streb (2014) and Kevin Kisner (2015). Below is a breakdown of when and where they teed off today (Thurs., April 13):

Best of luck to our Team RSM “family” this week!

In related recent news, last week, friend of The RSM Classic, Darius Rucker, who has joined us at The RSM Classic a couple of times and performed there twice, spoke with Golf Carolinas about hitting the course while on tour, his Monday After Masters event and the charities benefitting from the event, which is in its 23rd year!  Read the full interview here.

We look forward to a great weekend of golf, which is making us anxious to return to Sea Island for The RSM Classic (Nov. 13-19) – November is only seven short months away… For those of you who celebrate the holiday, we wish you a happy Passover and hope you enjoy this coming Easter weekend.

Check back next week for more updates.

Get Your Greens

It’s officially green jacket week! The 81st Masters tees off today down in Augusta, GA. We’re looking forward to tuning in and watching Team RSM members Zach Johnson and Andy Sullivan play, along with past RSM Classic winners Kevin Kisner (2015) and Mackenzie Hughes (2016). All players are starting off tee No. 1. Zach teed off at 9:06 a.m. ET; Kevin and Andy started at 9:28 a.m.; and Mackenzie teed off at 12:57 p.m. Best of luck to all “our guys” this week! We’ll be holding our breath that the bad weather has passed and it’ll be beautiful skies for the next few days! The wind should add an extra element to make it interesting!

Our very own Team RSM Member Davis Love III was a part of the broadcast team on the Masters Tournament live online coverage to commentate on today’s featured groups! Watch it all here.

Ever wonder what a Masters Tournament invitation looks like? Mackenzie Hughes, our 2016 RSM Classic champ, shared his with The Advocate. We bet this is something all PGA TOUR professionals want in their memorabilia collection from their careers.

While gearing up for this week, the PGA TOUR shared a video of the ‘18 things to know about the 2017 Masters.’ Watch it below – did you know all these things? We sure didn't!

Speaking of "gearing up," planning is already underway for this year’s RSM Classic. The tournament is taking place Nov. 13-19, 2017 in beautiful Sea Island, GA.
