Golf, Giving Back and Good Music

We learned some exciting news last week that Jimmy Walker has secured his spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, and Team RSM Member Andy Sullivan made the European team! This, combined with the fact that our very own Team RSM Member Davis Love III is Ryder Cup Captain this year, might make it a bit challenging for us to decide which team to pull for! You can bet we’ll be watching this year’s tournament extra closely!

Between now and Sept. 29-Oct 2, however, there will be a lot going on, including last week when there was LOTS of RSM Classic-related faces on the course for the Barclays at Bethpage State Park (Black) in Farmingdale, NY. Davis was there, along with fellow Team RSM member Zach Johnson and a number of past winners of The RSM Classic (which Davis hosts): Kevin Kisner (2015) Robert Streb (2014), Chris Kirk (2013), - and Ben Crane 2011.
While many of “our guys” were at the Barclays this past week, our minds are already starting to focus on the 2016 RSM Classic (Nov. 14 – 20 at Sea Island Golf Club). And one of our favorite parts of the tournament each year is raising funds for children and families in need through the tournament’s Birdies Fore Love (BFL) program.
Through BFL, RSM offices commit to raising funds for local charitable organizations that align with the missions of the RSM US Foundation and the Davis Love Foundation. In 2015, the program more than doubled the prior year’s giving, raising almost $1.3 million for 65 nonprofits across the nation in cities where RSM employees live and work. The strong fundraising through BFL, coupled with proceeds from the tournament, brought the 2015 total donation to more than $2 million, and the program total (since the inception of The RSM Classic) to more than $4.8 million.
If you would like to help at-risk youth in the areas of education, hunger, housing or health, you can donate to Birdies Fore Love online.
Check back next week for more updates. And if you haven’t already gotten your tickets for this year’s RSM Classic, get ’em today – you don’t want to miss what’s surely going to be another great week at beautiful Sea Island! While you’re purchasing your tournament tickets, don’t forget to reserve your spot at Saturday night’s (Nov. 19) concert with Cole Swindell. Based on all of the social media chatter we’ve been seeing over the past few weeks, this one is going to be a sell-out! Get your tickets here.

While Team RSM isn’t playing this week, we have quite a few familiar faces that we will be cheering on during the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro: past RSM Classic winners Ben Crane (2011), Chris Kirk (2013), Robert Streb (2014) and Kevin Kisner (2015). Kevin starts the day at 7:30 a.m. ET from tee No. 10; from the same tee, Chris isn’t too far behind at 7:50 a.m.; Ben tees off at 12:55 p.m. from tee No. 10; and at 1:05 p.m., Robert starts from tee No. 1. Good luck to everyone this week!

As we continue to countdown to the 2016 RSM Classic (Nov. 14-20), we’re sharing a few fun golf videos to start building the excitement. Make A Difference Through Birdies Fore Love

The golf action is coming from Connecticut this week for the Travelers Championship. Playing is Team RSM Member Zach Johnson, along with past RSM Classic winners Heath Slocum (2010) and Ben Crane (2011). Heath started the day at 7:15 a.m., ET from tee No. 10, followed by Ben at 7:45 a.m. from tee No. 1. Zach teed off at 1:15 p.m. from tee No. 1. We’re pulling for “our guys” this week and weekend!

Did you hear the news? Birdies Fore Love is now live! Now in its third year, RSM’s Birdies Fore Love program is a giving platform tied to The RSM Classic. Each year, RSM makes a difference for at-risk youth through Birdies Fore Love, thanks to stellar participation from its partners, principals and employees, as well as gifts from clients and friends of the firm. The RSM US Foundation also provides a generous match.

Through Birdies Fore Love, RSM offices commit to raising funds for a local charity that aligns with the missions of the RSM US Foundation and Davis Love Foundation. In 2015, the program more than doubled the prior year’s giving, raising almost $1.3 million for 65 charities in the local communities where RSM’s employees live and work. The strong fundraising through Birdies Fore Love coupled with proceeds from the tournament brought the 2015 total donation to over $2 million and the program total to more than $4.8 million.

Giving back to the community through The RSM Classic and Bridies Fore Love is one of our favorite parts of the tournament each year, and we’re looking forward to doing more great things for those in need through this year’s event. If you’d like to join us to help at-risk youth in the areas of education, hunger, housing or health, we hope you’ll consider donating to Birdies Fore Love. Read the official contest rule and regulations here.

Check back next week for the latest on Team RSM and the 2016 RSM Classic (Nov. 14-20)! (That’s only three short months away so if you haven’t yet gotten your tickets, you might want to do that today.)
