When Paths Cross

While Team RSM members aren’t playing in this week’s RBC Canadian Open, we do have a few fellows we will be cheering for! Playing this week are past RSM Classic champions Ben Crane (2011), Chris Kirk (2013), Robert Streb (2014) and Kevin Kisner (2015). Ben started the day at 7:40 a.m. ET from tee No. 10; Chris tees at 12:55 p.m. from tee No. 10; then Kevin and Robert are in the same group starting at 1:25pm from tee No. 10. Best of luck to all our “guys” this week!

Last week was the British Open, and while defending champion Team RSM member Zach Johnson had another incredible week, he didn’t bring home the Claret Jug this year. We’d like to extend our congratulations to Henrik Stenson on a great win. We were able to capture a great shot from Zach meeting fellow Team RSM member Andy Sullivan and executives from our RSM UK office. Check it out. Nice, huh?

And on a related note, Team RSM member and 2016 Ryder Cup US Team Captain Davis Love III conducted another Q&A session with RyderCup.com about the action from last week’s Open, how the U.S. Ryder Cup team is shaping up and other golf-related topics. When asked about how he’s recovering from surgery, Davis responded:

“It's going great. The only problem is the doctors and therapists holding me back. I feel so much better than I was. The problem is I want to do Week 3 of rehab when I'm only on Week 2. The doctors and therapists have been on me to pump the breaks and stick to the plan. I need to calm down. Even though I'm bummed out about having to miss the PGA Championship and defending the Wyndham Championship, I'm so happy I got it done.”

Sounds as if Davis is the very definition of a “speedy recovery,” which makes those of us at RSM very happy! You can read the full interview here.

And speaking of Davis, the 2016 Friends of the Foundation, a charitable program administered by the Davis Love Foundation to benefit Sea Island-area nonprofits, is now underway. The program helps charitable organizations raise money by selling $20 raffle tickets for the chance to win a new 2016 Buick Verano, courtesy of Nalley Automotive of Brunswick, GA. One hundred percent of the money collected through the raffle is distributed back to the participating charities. Are you part of a charity and interested in applying for this great program? You have until Aug. 1 to submit your registration forms. Get all the details here.

We look forward to sharing the latest updates on Team RSM and the 2016 RSM Classic (Nov. 14-20) with you next week. Be sure to check back!

Goodbyes and New Beginnings

It’s a bitter sweet week for Team RSM member Zach Johnson. With it being the week of The Open, it was time for Zach to say goodbye to the Claret Jug, after “owning” it since his win in last year’s tournament. However, he IS playing in this week’s tournament so…he could be the proud owner of the Jug for another year – fingers crossed! Do you think Zach will bring home the Jug again? If not, who do you think has the best chance of lifting it? We’ll find out soon. In the meantime, Zach had a little fun sharing his sad ‘goodbye’ to the Claret Jug on Twitter. Check out the photos he posted.

Joining Zach in Scotland is fellow Team RSM member Andy Sullivan, along with past RSM Classic winners Chris Kirk (2013), Robert Streb (2014) and Kevin Kisner (2015).  Their tee times are below:

Back in the states, a few other previous RSM Classic winners, Heath Slocum (2010) and Ben Crane (2011), are playing in the Barbasol Championship in Auburn, AL. Heath tees off at 12:42 p.m., ET from tee No. 10 and Ben starts at 1:04 p.m. from tee No. 10.

Best of luck to all our guys” during this week’s tournaments!

In other state-side news, Team RSM Member Davis Love III underwent a successful arthroscopic hip surgery last week. He expects to make a full and complete recovery, and is looking forward to serving as U.S. team captain for the 2016 Ryder Cup, September 30 through October 2 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, MN. You can read further details on www.rsmclassic.com!

Davis also recently filmed a video with Ryder Cup USA team members at beautiful Sea Island (home of The RSM Classic). It’s a great video where Davis shares interesting stories while reflecting on some of the past US Captains. You can watch the it here.

Healing, Remembering and Planning Ahead

Sadly, this week’s PGA TOUR tournament – The Greenbrier Classic – has been canceled due to severe flooding in West Virginia. We send our best to The Greenbrier and all of the people impacted by the flooding. The Greenbrier’s ‘Neighbors Loving Neighbors’ campaign is helping those who have lost so much by collecting food and funds to help the flood’s victims get back on their feet. To learn more about this campaign and to find out where you can donate, read this article.

Other updates from the game of golf: last week, Team RSM member Davis Love III was in Omaha to support an RSM event, which teamed up with The First Tee of Omaha. During the event, Davis shared golf tips and other insights with the kids. Local television affiliate Fox 42 joined the fun, and featured a nice video, which can be viewed  here. Thanks for joining us, Davis. Your friends here at RSM are wishing you a speedy recovery following your recent successful hip surgery! Interested in hearing directly from Davis about the surgery? Read his interview with PGA.com. And speaking of Davis, we’d like to congratulate Dru Love (Davis’s son) on winning his second Golden Isles Invitational! You can read details in this Brunswick News article.

Fellow Team RSM Member Zach Johnson is in the news, as well. Check out this Golf.com story highlighting Zach as he reflects on his come-from-behind 2015 win at St. Andrews in last year’s Open Championship.

When we think of Davis and Zach, our thoughts naturally turn to the Golden Isles – home for both of these members of Team RSM, as well as home of The RSM Classic. With this in mind, we hope you’re able to join us on the island Mon., Nov. 14 through Sun., Nov. 20 for this year’s tournament. It promises to offer numerous fun and entertaining events for everyone, even those who might not be the biggest of golf fans. One of the week’s highlights: the Sat., Nov. 19  concert featuring Cole Swindell. We hope you’ll join us at Sea Island.

Be sure to stop by next week for new updates on Team RSM and the 2016 RSM Classic!
