It’s A Full House

Well, one thing’s certain for this coming weekend, we have lots of golf watching and cheering to do! It almost seems like a takeover at The Honda Classic with Team RSM members Davis Love III, Zach Johnson and Andy Sullivan all playing, along with a number of our “extended family” of previous RSM Classic winners, Ben Crane (2011), Chris Kirk (2013), Robert Streb (2014) and Kevin Kisner (2015). Here are their tee times for today (Thurs., Feb. 25):

Best of luck to all our guys this weekend! We’ll be watching all the action on The Golf Channel. Will YOU?

Golden Isles shared a fun fact with us on Twitter today. #DidYouKnow today in 1937 a joint resolution was signed making the live oak the official state tree of Georgia? Sea Island, GA – home of The RSM Classic – is lined with these stunning and massive trees. We’re thankful for “this day in history” in 1937, as it contributes greatly to the incredible beautiful scenery on the island. Regardless of whether you’re a fan of golf, we HIGHLY recommend that you join us for the 2016 RSM Classic this year (Nov. 14-20) so you can experience the oaks, the action and the rich history of the community in person.

We also want to extend belated birthday wishes to Team RSM member Zach Johnson who celebrated his special day yesterday (Feb.24).  We hope it was a great one, Zach!

Stay up-to-date on Team RSM and other fun golf related items every Thursday here – or follow us on our social channels for more timely news @TheRSMClassic, on Facebook and on LinkedIn.

See you back here next week!

Dust off those clubs

As spring inches closer on the calendar, we know a lot of golfers are dusting off their clubs and thinking about hitting the links! Mark Love, executive director of the Davis Love Foundation, recently shared a few tips on chipping around the green. Below is an excerpt, but you can read the full post here. Hopefully, your game will benefit from Davis’ insights!

“Two of the most common errors which cause poor chipping are an improper set-up, and an over-active right hand (or left hand for our lefties). A great drill to do to help with these issues is to practice some chips using your lead arm. Left arm only for right-handed players; right arm only for the lefties.”

This week’s action on the PGA TOUR is taking place in California. Our newest Team RSM member, Andy Sullivan, (thanks to RSM UK) is playing in the Northern Trust Open. Joining him at Riviera Country Club is past RSM Classic champions Ben Crane (2011), Chris Kirk (2013) and Robert Streb (2014). With an early start, Andy teed off at 7:01 a.m. PT;  Ben was at 11:51 a.m.; not too far behind is Chris at 12:12 p.m.; and Robert teed off at 12:23 p.m. All players will begin from tee No. 10 today (Thurs., Feb. 18). Best of luck to all of them this weekend!

Check back next week to find out the latest news and updates on Team RSM, RSM Classic and other related activities.

In the Mood for Love

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so we’re thinking about LOVE – Team RSM Member Davis Love III, that is! This week, Davis is in California for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, teeing off at 9:50 a.m. PT from tee No. 1 on the Spyglass Hill Golf Course. We’ll be tuning in and cheering on Davis this weekend!

Davis has also been in the news recently, discussing the 2016 Ryder Cup and Team USA, where he’s been sharing insights around how he’s doing things differently his second time as captain. For starters, he plans to start getting familiar with potential team members (based on the U.S. points system) early on in the season. His focus is on building comradery,  whether that’s through gathering for dinners or getting off the course and engaging in a little team building. He’s also asking for feedback from professional golfers he has previously played with on the Ryder Cup team. Listen in to the full interview on the Ryder Cup website.

Before wrapping up this week’s post, we want to send  belated birthday wishes to 2010 RSM Classic winner Heath Slocum, who celebrated his birthday Wed., Feb. 3. And we want to wish an early happy birthday to our 2015 RSM Classic winner Kevin Kisner, who celebrates his special day on Mon., Feb. 15. Leave your wishes in the comment section and we’ll be sure to pass them along!

We hope you’ll check back next week for the latest news on Team RSM and the 2016 RSM Classic (Nov. 14-20).

Supporting the Community Through The RSM Classic

The total is in and… WOW! RSM US LLP, title sponsor of The RSM Classic, an official PGA TOUR event, announced earlier today that the sixth annual RSM Classic (Nov. 19 – 22, 2015) raised $2,054,334 for children- and family-focused charitable organizations. This brings the six-year charitable contribution total from the tournament to nearly $5 million!

Of the more than $2 million raised through this past November’s tournament, more than $1.2 million was raised through Birdies Fore Love, a donation program supported by RSM US offices across the country. Of that amount, more than $700,000 was raised by RSM employees and clients, and another $500,000 was donated by The RSM US Foundation.

A big congratulations to all those involved and who contributed. RSM has a rich history of giving back to the communities where its employees live and work – and this is one shining example of how much our employees, clients, friends and family members value stewardship.

From totals to tees… our RSM “family” is having quite the gathering in Arizona this week for the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Team RSM Member Zach Johnson is joined by past RSM Classic winners Ben Crane (2011) , Chris Kirk (2013), Robert Streb (2014) and Kevin Kisner (2015). Best of luck to all our guys this weekend in what is typically one of the most colorful tournaments each year!
