Last week we mentioned rumblings about Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III being named Team USA’s captain of the 2016 Ryder Cup. This week, the rumors were confirmed – Davis will, indeed, lead the team in 2016. Congrats, Davis – your friends at McGladrey are so proud!
Here’s an excerpt from the
official Ryder
Cup announcement, where Davis shares his excitement:
“I
am thrilled to be the Team USA Captain and represent our country as we work to
win back the Ryder Cup,” said Love. “It is a great honor to be in the position
to help build the Team, but our mission doesn’t end there. What we accomplish
in 2016 at Hazeltine must serve as the foundation for future USA Ryder Cup
Teams. As the son of a PGA Professional and representing all PGA members, I am
very proud to accept this responsibility and eager to get started."
More exciting news in the
world of golf was shared this week: the National Golf Course Association (NGCOA)
recognized the Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club (home of The McGladrey
Classic) with the 2015 Jemsek Award for golf course excellence. You
can read all the details on this in Golf
Course Industry. We’d like to give a shout out to all our friends at Sea
Island on this prestigious recognition!
Also this week, Team
McGladrey Member Zach
Johnson is in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for the Honda Classic. Zach teed
off at 7:15 a.m., EST from tee No. 10.
Also playing in the Honda Classic are past
McGladrey Classic winners Ben
Crane (2011), Chris
Kirk (2013) and Robert
Streb (2014). Sounds a bit like a reunion for The McGladrey Classic
“family!”
Check back next week for more
updates on Team McGladrey and the 2015 McGladrey Classic, scheduled for Nov. 16-22.
