A view to remember

Team McGladrey Member Zach Johnson teed off this morning at 7:57 a.m. MST from tee No. 1 for the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Zach is joined in Arizona by other members of the  McGladrey “family:”past McGladrey Classic winners Ben Crane (2011) and Robert Streb (2014).  Best of luck this weekend to our “three musketeers”! To follow the tournament, tune in to The Golf Channel this weekend.

At Sea Island (home of The McGladrey Classic), we snapped a beautiful shot from hole No. 14 on the Seaside Course. The stunning sunset, marsh, greenery and a great view of the Atlantic ocean with the Sidney Lanier Bridge in the distance all combined for a beautiful view. Does it get any better than that? Which hole is your favorite at Seaside? If you have a photo, we’d love for you to share it with us! If you don’t follow us already, check out our Facebook page, LinkedIn and Twitter sites to see and hear behind-the-scenes posts.

Earlier this week, Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III spoke with SiriusXM’s Matt Adams on the station’s Fairways of Life radio show. In the interview, they talked about Love’s golf management projects, how to grow the game of golf, The McGladrey Classic and much more! Check it out.

Join us next Thursday for more update dates on Team McGladrey and the 2015 McGladrey Classic (Nov. 16-22).

From Coast to Coast

This week, Team McGladrey Member Zach Johnson is in California for the Humana Challenge, where he is joined by previous McGladrey Classic winners Heath Slocum (2010), Ben Crane (2011) and Chris Kirk (2013). If you plan on tuning in to The Golf Channel to watch, Zach tees off at 8:40 a.m., PST from tee No. 10 on PGA West (Nicklaus) and Slocum is at 8:30 a.m. from tee No. 1. On PGA West (Palmer), Crane tees off at 8:40 a.m., PST from tee No. 10 and Kirk is at 9:40 a.m. from tee No. 1.  Best of luck to all our “guys”!

In other news, the annual PGA Merchandise Show kicked off yesterday (Tues., Jan. 20) with Demo Day and an instructional workshop. Jan. 21-23 will be the actual exhibit days and conferences in Orlando. This event is always a big hit for golf industry professionals; Team McGladrey Member Chris DiMarco even showed up this year!

In case you missed it, The Brunswick News recently published a great article about three area nonprofits that benefit from The McGladrey Classic: Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia; Special Olympics, Southeast Georgia Health System Foundation and the First Tee Program. Numerous other local, regional and national charitable organizations receive proceeds from The McGladrey Classic, as well. Stewardship is one of McGladrey’s core values, and giving back to the community through The McGladrey Classic is one of the key ways we live that value. We’d like to thank all of The McGladrey Classic supporters and volunteers for their role in helping the 2014 tournament raise more than $930,000 for deserving children- and family-focused charitable organizations, and are looking forward to raising even more for those in need through this year’s event!

Check back with us next Thursday for more on Team McGladrey and the 2015 McGladrey Classic (Nov. 16-22)!

McGladrey Classic Mentions

Team McGladrey Member Zach Johnson had a great run last week at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, finishing in seventh place. Hopping over a few islands this week, Zach is on Honolulu for the Sony Open where he is joined by fellow Team McGladrey Member, Davis Love III. Zach tees off at 12:30 p.m., HST from tee No. 1, following from the same tee at 12:40 p.m., HST is Davis. Best of luck to our “guys” this week!
Earlier this week, US Airways Magazine featured a great article on The McGladrey Classic. The piece promotes the “laid back vibe and coastal setting,” which makes the tournament a favorite on the PGA TOUR. Below is an excerpt with a quote from the McGladrey Classic tournament director, Scott Reid:
“Our event is very family-friendly, with a variety of accommodations and access to a number of fun activities,” says tournament director Scott Reid. “There is plenty for players and their families to enjoy.” Players and spectators look forward to the SUP Challenge, a paddle board race presented by the Davis Love Foundation, Community Day, and the Wiffle Ball Classic, featuring PGA TOUR players and their wives.
What a great article to kick start our momentum going into the new year for the 2015 McGladrey Classic! We are already teeing things up (pun intended) for this year’s tournament, which is scheduled for Nov. 16-22 in Sea Island, GA.
Check back next week for the latest updates on Team McGladrey and The McGladrey Classic.

Hello 2015!

Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and were able to spend some quality time with friends and family.

As the year kicks off, Team McGladrey is getting back into the swing of things. This week, Zach Johnson is in Hawaii defending his title at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Zach tees off this morning, Thurs., Jan. 8, at 12:50 pm HST from tee No. 1.  We’re pulling for a win! And while Zach is competing this weekend, he will also be featured in an NBC Special – PGA TOUR 2015 presented by Hyundai – airing on Sun., Jan. 11 at 2pm EST. Be sure to tune in!

Meanwhile, Team McGladrey Member Chris DiMarco was featured in an Gulf News article as they build-up for the 10th annual Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. In the tournament’s inaugural year in 2006, Chris won.

The McGladrey Classic is also starting off the new year with a BIG announcement: The fifth annual McGladrey Classic in October 2014 raised more than $930,000 for children- and family-focused charitable organizations. This brings the total five-year charitable contribution of the tournament to more than $2.7 million. This is due in large part to the tournament's Birdies Fore Love program. BFL was launched in 2012 to encourage individuals to make donations and to guess the number of birdies that would be made during the tournament. In 2014, McGladrey employees and clients raised more than $467,000 through the program. McGladrey is thrilled to be part of such a strong effort that supports the community.

We’re looking forward to seeing what 2015 has in store for Team McGladrey and The McGladrey Classic (Nov. 16-22), and to sharing those details with our readers. Be sure to stop by next week to here the latest updates.
