Wrapping Up More than Presents

As the 2014 calendar year nears its close, we wanted to provide you with a final update before the upcoming holiday.

Last week, Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III and his son Dru Love participated in the PNC Father/Son Challenge. The pair had an incredible finish, coming in second place! Way to go, guys! And congratulations, too, to Bernhard and Jason Langer for winning, and to Jason for being the youngest son to ever win this tournament at 14 years-old!

As we look back on 2014, we are reminded of many exciting moments from Team McGladrey and the fifth annual McGladrey Classic. Just a few of our favorite moments include:
  • Team McGladrey Member Zach Johnson made a hole-in-one at Pinehurst #2 during the U.S. Open.
  • The McGladrey Classic’s Birdies Fore Love program had another successful year, raising more than $400,000 for deserving children- and family-focused charitable organizations.
  • Some 1,200 volunteers contributed to the success of this year’s McGladrey Classic by sharing their time, talent and treasures, and greeting attendees with that good ol’ Southern hospitality for which Sea Island, GA is so well know.
  • Davis and Robin Love welcomed the arrival of their first grandchild, Eloise Charles.
  • McGladrey extended its sponsorship of The McGladrey Classic through 2020.
  • Sea Island, home of The McGladrey Classic, won big this year, with numerous awards/recognitions for its resorts (The Lodge and The Cloister), spa and restaurants.

The PGA TOUR has started to recap the year as well, sharing their top 10 shots from the 2014 season on the TOUR website. Which shot was your favorite?

We are taking the next two weeks off to celebrate the holidays and ring in the New Year! We wish our readers a safe and magical holiday season, and hope you’ll check back with us for our next update on Thurs., Jan. 8, 2015.

Here’s to a healthy and prosperous 2015!

Get in the Holiday Spirit!

It’s that special time of year where the world wears a smile, and activities related to The McGladrey Classic and Team McGladrey slow a bit as folks in and outside of the world of golf celebrate the holiday season and spend time with family and friends. We hope our readers are able to do the same this holiday season!

Another aspect of this time of year is giving – not just presents to family and friends, but giving back to the communities where we live and work. The holiday spirit is all about helping those in need, supporting our local communities and spreading kindness. McGladrey has a long history of giving back. That’s why stewardship is one of its core values. As you might know, 2014 marked the fifth year of The McGladrey Classic. What you might not know, however, is that it also marked the fifth year of McGladrey’s annual Volunteer Day. This year, more than 2,400 McGladrey employees and clients volunteered in their local communities to give back to 95 different charitable organizations nationwide. And through the first four years of The McGladrey Classic (we’re still waiting for the final total from this year’s tournament), the firm has helped raise nearly $2 million dollars for Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia and other children- and family-focused charitable organizations. A large part of these financial donations came from the tournament’s Birdies Fore Love program, which McGladrey employees, clients and friends have supported by raising more than $400,000 each of the last two years. In honor of the fifth anniversary, McGladrey highlighted on its website the top five charities that have benefitted from the Birdies Fore Love program. More information about charitable contributions from this year’s McGladrey Classic will be available soon.

What will YOU be doing to get into the holiday spirit this year?

Next week will be our last post of 2014. We hope you’ll check back next Thursday, leave a comment on your holiday plans and/or New Year’s resolution and continue to join us here in 2015.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you were able to spend some quality time with friends and family over the holiday. And now…it’s hard to believe that we’re already in December, and nearing the end of 2014!

Since we’re now in the midst of the holiday season, you might be making a list of all the gifts you’d like to purchase for friends, family members and coworkers! For the golf lovers on your list, you might want to head over to the Tennis Center at The Retreat Island Club for merchandise. They’re offering discounted pricing on all remaining inventory through Fri., Dec. 5! If you can’t get to Sea Island (home of The McGladrey Classic) in person, you can always shop on The McGladrey Classic website for non-discounted items.

It’s a relatively quiet week on the course for Team McGladrey. Zach Johnson is in Florida for the Hero World Challenge, and Chris DiMarco attended the World Challenge Pro-Am Dinner. This morning (Dec. 4), Zach teed off at 11:25 a.m. ET (Dec. 4) from tee No. 1. We’re pulling for him! And that’s not all: Earlier this week, the PGA TOUR featured Zach as their 28th pick in its ‘Top 30 Players to Watch’! Be sure to check out the article here. Nice!

Stop by next week for more on Team McGladrey and The McGladrey Classic.
