This
week it’s all about Team McGladrey! Davis Love III
is in Greensboro, NC for the Wyndham Championship. Davis had an early start
this morning, teeing off at 7:40 a.m., ET from tee No. 10. This year marks the
75th time the Wyndham Championship has been held! In celebration of
this significant milestone, check out the
article the PGA TOUR featured on 75 things you should know
about one of the TOUR’s oldest tournaments! One of our favorite facts was No.
28. In fact, we liked it so much that we’re including it in our post below.
Check out No. 30, 59 and 69, as well – lots of good stuff here!
28. Davis Love III produced a finish for the
ages to win the 1992 GGO at Forest Oaks. He started the final round three shots
behind, yet won the tournament by a whopping six strokes, posting a
course-record 31-31--62 that included two eagles on holes on which he holed out
from greenside bunkers. Love, one of only three North Carolinians to win the
tournament (Raymond Floyd and Webb Simpson are the others.), almost holed out for a third eagle, hitting a
wedge to the 16th that stopped barely two inches from the cup.

This
week we also received a surprise in the mail! Zach was featured on the cover of
Golf Magazine this month! Very cool – have you picked up your copy yet?
Last
week during the PGA Championship, Chris DiMarco was on the Golf Channel’s
Morning Drive. Chris discussed PGA TOUR professionals, hole locations, he gave
a demo and provided some tips for downhill lies
around the green, and discussed the mental mindset
and how to prepare for a major. Good tips, which we plan to
put to use!
Before
signing off, we want to wish Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey, 2012 McGladrey Classic champion, a happy birthday (Aug. 13) and all our lefty readers a happy Left Hander’s
International Day (Aug. 14)! Check back next week for more updates on Team McGladrey and The McGladrey
Classic (Oct. 20-26). Sixty-six days and counting… We hope to
see YOU at Sea Island for this year’s tournament! And speaking of Sea Island,
we expect to have some special guest posts as we get closer to the tournament.
Check back for those in October – you won’t want to miss ’em!
