This week, Team McGladrey
member Zach Johnson was in Rhode Island for
the CVS Caremark Charity Classic, where he was teamed up with Matt Kuchar. Following
the CVS Caremark, Zach Johnson and fellow President’s Cup team members and PGA
TOUR wives (including Team McGladrey member Davis Love III’s wife Robin) headed
Washington, D.C. to attend a ceremony with President Obama to
celebrate the 2013 President’s Cup American and International teams.
Coincidentally, other McGladrey “family” members were on Capitol Hill this
week, as well. Karen Kurek, the leader of McGladrey’s industrial products
practice was visiting with Capitol Hill representatives and national media
outlet reporters to share results of the firm’s 2014 McGladrey
Manufacturing & Distribution Monitor report. Results from
this annual survey provide unique insights into the state of manufacturing and
distribution, sharing insights from nearly 1,000 C-level executives about this
important sector of our economy.
Also earlier this week,
SiriusXM announced the launch of a new weekly show featuring golf talk,
analysis and instruction from several pros based out of the renowned Sea Island
Golf Club on St. Simons Island in Georgia. Sea Island Golf Radio airs every Wednesday
from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.,ET on SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio (XM channel 93, Sirius
channel 208). Below is a quote from the recent release:
"Sea
Island is home to an extraordinary group of players, coaches and trainers and
we're pleased to have gathered several of those pros together to contribute to
SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio," said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM's President and
Chief Content Officer. "Listeners who tune in to Sea Island Golf Radio
will have access to a tremendous amount of talent and will find this show to be
an outstanding source for both entertaining golf talk and expert
instruction."

And now… Davis is playing in
the Quicken Loans National in Bethesda, Maryland. Davis tees off today (Thurs.,
June 26) at 7:36 a.m., from tee No. 10. (Check out the video of Davis
Love III at the tournament sharing his passion for golf with young members of
The First Tee of Greater Washington.) Quicken Loans is doing a little
something different at their tournament: a Quicken Loans Hole-in-One Sweepstakes. If a player in this week's tournament aces the
10th hole, one lucky fan will win $1 million in a random drawing! The
sweepstakes will continue for the rest of the PGA TOUR season, but this is the
only week -- and Congressional's 10th is the only hole -- in which $1 million grand
prize will be awarded. Following the Quicken Loans National, every time there's
a hole-in-one at a participating PGA TOUR tournament, fans who sign up for the
sweepstakes will have a chance of Quicken Loans paying off their mortgage for a
year. Wow! Who wouldn’t want one of THESE prizes?!?
That wraps up this week’s
update. Check back next week for more on Team McGladrey and the 2014 McGladrey
Classic (now just 115 days away, and counting)!
