Earlier
this week, The Davis Love Foundation, host organization of The McGladrey Classic, announced that
it will extend an invitation to play in the tournament to the winner of the
Jones Cup Invitational. The first invitation will be given to the
champion of the 2015 Jones Cup, which will be played early next year at Ocean
Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Georgia. Learn more about this on the McGladrey Classic website.
Speaking of The McGladrey
Classic, the tournament’s Birdies Fore Love program is now accepting
applications from charitable organizations interested in being a part of this year's
program. Here’s a brief background on Birdies Fore Love is for interested
charities: Birdies Fore Love focuses on helping 501(c)3 organizations exceed
their fundraising goals while sharing the excitement of a major PGA TOUR
event. Contributors are asked to make donations to one of the program’s
Birdies Fore participating charities. For an additional $1 (above the
$10 minimum), contributors are eligible to enter the “Guess the Birdies”
contest for a chance to win a new car from our friends at Nalley Buick
GMC. One-hundred percent of all donations will go to the charity selected
by the contributor. (Click here to learn more and/or apply.)
Moving on to the Sunshine State
this week for The PLAYERS Championship, Zach teed off in Florida at 8:18 a.m.,
ET on tee 10 this morning (May 8). The PGA TOUR’s fantasy expert picks are out
for this week’s tournament, and Zach was listed in quite a few places. We’re
hoping these expert picks are on the money! And to get an inside feel of what
it’s like to play the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass in Florida, check
out this PGA TOUR article featuring several professional
golfers give their opinions.
And speaking of PGA TOUR professionals, 2013 McGladrey
Classic winner Chris Kirk, who happens to be celebrating his birthday today,
was recently featured on GOarticles.com.
The story mentions his golf-relationship Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III. Check out this brief
snippet: We’ve include a little snippet from the article below
Under Love's tutelage, he
hasn't stopped improving, winning twice on the Web.com
Tour in 2010 to earn his card and capturing the PGA Tour's 2011 Viking Classic
as a rookie. All Love has prescribed to Kirk are some simple range drills that
emphasize impact position.
