This week marks one of the biggest traditions in golf…the 78th Masters teed-off earlier today (Thurs., April 10). The PGA TOUR released a fun article on “What it feels like at Augusta National…” It touches on every aspect of the tournament: driving down Magnolia Lane, playing on Sunday, attending a Champions dinner, etc. Our very own Team McGladrey Member Zach Johnson was featured in the article. Zach, who won the Masters in 2007, will be competing this year as well, teeing off 9:57 a.m., EST on tee #1. CBS Sports also debuted the outfits Zach (as well as Bubba Watson) will be wearing during this week’s play. Check out the outfits here. The Golf Channel also posted a Hole-by-hole look at Augusta National. Which hole is your favorite? Be sure to tune in and watch on the ESPN. We’ll be watching…and pulling for Zach!
Another
tradition of sorts this week: We’re celebrating a special birthday. Team
McGladrey Member Davis Love III
turns the big 5-0! You can send Davis your birthday wishes by posting them here
on our blog or by reaching out to him via his social media platforms (@Love3d
or on his Facebook page).
Happy Birthday, Davis!
Davis is
keeping busy this birthday week. He was in the news a few times: The Charlotte
Business Journal featured two of the area’s golf courses
ranked by U.S. Golf Associations men’s slope rating. The article featured the
Davis Love Golf Management team since they are the new management group for the
Firethorne Country Club. And, the Augusta
Chronicle discussed the popularity of St. Simons Island, which
is home to a number of PGA TOUR players, and home of The McGladrey Classic. Whether it’s
the beauty of the island or the warming hospitality with the mom-and-pop shops,
Sea Island continues to attract golfers and lovers of the game. We know WE’RE
looking forward to returning to the island this October for the fifth annual
McGladrey Classic! And speaking of this year’s tournament, earlier this week,
the Davis Love Foundation released this year’s “excitement video,” promoting
the event. Watch the short video here:
Enjoy the Masters this weekend, and check back next week for more updates on Team McGladrey and the 2014 McGladrey Classic!
