Cute + Fun = Golf!

After having the volunteer window open for returning volunteers for The McGladrey Classic for just one short week, more than 30 percent of the volunteer spots for the 2014 tournament (Oct. 20 – 26) have already been filled! We believe many of the volunteers enjoy the event as much as we do! Haven’t volunteered for The McGladrey Classic before? Want to be a part of one of the PGA TOUR’s finest tournaments on one of the most scenic courses ever at beautiful Sea Island? The registration window for new volunteers opens Tues., April 1. You’ll want to mark your calendar and register as quickly as possible once the window opens, though, because, in years past, the slots (which are filled on a first-come, first-served basis) have filled up quickly. We’d love to have your support in making this year’s tournament a success!

The McGladrey Classic “family” is having a mini reunion this week at the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida. This morning (March 13), Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III teed off at 8:30am EST on tee #10; Ben Crane (2011 McGladrey Classic winner) teed off at 9am EST on tee #1; and Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey (2012 McGladrey Classic winner) tees off at 1:20pm EST on tee #1. Best of luck to all of “our guys” there in the sunshine state!

Speaking of Ben, he and fellow PGA TOUR Professional Chesson Hadley shared some great family pictures this week. After winning his first PGA TOUR event at the Puerto Rico Open, Chesson “decorated” the winning trophy in one of the most unique (and cutest) ways we’ve ever seen. Take a look at the PGA TOUR’s photo on the left. Simply adorable, right? Ben shared a family picture on Facebook when he wished his wife, Heather, a happy birthday. We can’t believe how big Saylor has gotten. She was born the day after Ben won The McGladrey Classic in 2011!

We mentioned earlier in this post that The McGladrey Classic is held at Sea Island. In case you missed it, CNN Travel recently released its list of 8 seriously playful hotels, and Sea Island made the list! Check out what the publication had to say about Sea Island’s resort features:

This massive resort on Georgia's coast packs in a lot: Nature lovers are especially spoiled with plenty to do, from salt marsh exploration to kayaking to an after-dark survival skills course where younger guests are groomed for the outdoors with lessons in pitching tents, lighting fires, reading a compass, etc. The resort can also provide a very thorough primer in gyotaku fish printing that includes dissecting the fish. For guests who prefer a more traditional take on play, there's a life-size chess set on the lawn, and a very civilized weekly Bingo service, where men age 12 and up are required to wear a jacket.
