The 2013 McGladrey Classic was another success by any measure, but here are some of the preliminary numbers we thought our readers might enjoy:
· Nearly 27,000 golf fans attended the tournament.
· More than 1,200 volunteers contributed to the success of the tournament by treating spectators to the best of good old-fashioned Southern hospitality.
· 600 youth participated in Youth Day activities, which included a demo by 2012 McGladrey Classic Champion Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey.
· An estimated $430,000 was raised by McGladrey employees and clients through Birdies Fore Love. (We will have the total amount of charitable contributions raised though the tournament in the coming weeks, and will share that when it’s available.)
Our congratulations go out once again to the 2013 McGladrey Classic Champion Chris Kirk, who was such a gracious winner! And we send our thanks once again to the volunteers who make this event a success year after year, as well as to all of the golf fans who attend and/or watch the tournament via the Golf Channel.
The McGladrey Classic continues to be a great way for McGladrey to give back to the community, while also connecting with clients and potential clients. Our thanks go out to the Davis Love Foundation (host of The McGladrey Classic), Team McGladrey members Chris DiMarco and Zach Johnson who play in the tournament, and fellow Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III and his wife Robin who host the Pro-Am pairings party at their beautiful home each year (and Davis, of course, plays in the tournament as well) and all of the staff at Sea Island who put their hearts and souls into the tournament each year.
Writing this update makes us already miss the island, but…we’re already looking forward to returning next year. Go ahead and mark your calendars now for the 2014 McGladrey Classic, which will take place Oct. 20 through 26, 2014!
We’ll have another guest post for the McGladrey golf blog next week. In the meantime, enjoy these scenes from the 2013 McGladrey Classic…
