There
have been a lot of activities here at Sea Island during tournament week, but
one of our favorites is always Youth Day, and this year’s was no exception. While
it was a blustery day, the wind wasn’t enough to keep local youth away – or to
dampen their enthusiasm as they participated in a Q&A with the pros, followed
by a glass-breaking demonstration, where Tommy not only broke the glass, but
then proceeded to destroy the frame.
Another
favorite tournament activity each year is the putting contest, which pairs Special
Olympics athletes and representatives from Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast
Georgia with PGA TOUR professionals and McGladrey leaders for a friendly
competition. And the proud winner takes home with a special trophy as a memento of
the event.
The
weather forecast for the rest of the tournament is calling for temperatures in the
low-70s – perfect weather for a perfect event at a perfect location!
Check
back throughout the week for daily updates, and tune in to the Golf Channel for
live coverage of The McGladrey Classic.
