The Clock is Ticking…

Today, Sept. 26, kicks off two local events on Sea Island to support children’s charities. “Meet the McGladrey Classic Pros” is taking place at 5 p.m. ET at The King & Prince Golf and Beach Resort. Lucas Glover, Chris Kirk and Team McGladrey Member Zach Johnson will all be there for this great cause. Tomorrow (Fri., Sept. 27), the Rotary of St. Simons Island presents the “Swing for Kids” golf tournament, starting at noon, ET, at The King & Prince Golf Course. If you’re in the area, you might want to check out one – or both – of these fun events.

Also this week, Team McGladrey Member Chris DiMarco is in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL for the Tour Championship. Chris is in group 40, which tees off at 1:48 p.m., ET on Dye’s Valley Course Tee #10. Next week, Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III will join Zach in Dublin, Ohio for the President’s Cup. Check out the official President’s Cup website to get the inside scoop on the 24 players set to compete, and take a look at what the U.S. team will be wearing during the tournament. Pretty snazzy if you ask us! What are your thoughts on the U.S. teams uniforms?

Next week, Sea Island will host McGladrey Classic Media Day on Mon., Sept. 30. National and local sports reporters and other media personalities will gather to learn more about this year’s tournament, and participate in some fun events, which will benefit select charitable organizations. We’ll update you next week on those events. In the meantime, you can follow us on Twitter (@McGladrey) or Facebook (McGladreyNews and McGladrey Classic) for a few “real time” updates and pics from Sea Island.

And while it’s not this week or even next, it’s coming up quickly. The McGladrey Classic is only 38 short days away. We’ve had a few more early commitments for the 2013 McGladrey Classic field since our last blog update. Joining us on St. Simons Island Nov. 4-10 will be Tim Clark, Carl Pettersson, Kyle Stanley, Robert Allenby, Charles Howell III and Stuart Appleby – just to name a few. Of course, many others will join over the coming weeks what’s already shaping up to be a strong field. We’re excited!
Finally, we want to share this week’s Seaside Course highlight: Hole 12 is a Par 3 playing 223 Yards. It has averaged 3.07 strokes and yielded 135 birdies over the first 3 years. This par 3 features a medium-sized bunker to the right of the large, back-to-front sloping green. Collection areas lie in front, behind and on both sides of the green.

Check back next week for more updates!
