Hole 8 of Seaside at Sea Island Golf Club is a Par 4 yielding 374 Yards. In the first three years of the McGladrey Classic is has averaged 3.85 strokes and yielded 302 birdies. The slight dogleg-right has two large, deep bunkers, one on each side of the fairway, for players to navigate with their tee shot after carrying the marsh. The approach is to a slightly elevated green, which is well protected by a large bunker fronting the right side with collection areas to the left and behind the green.
Don’t forget, Birdies Fore Love is accepting pledges! Pledge.Guess.Win. Guess the Birdies and get your chance to WIN a 2013 Buick Encore! All participants who make a minimum birdies pledge of $0.01 or one-time donation of $10 or more are eligible to win by simply filling out a pledge form and guessing the total number of birdies that will take place during the 2013 McGladrey Classic. Find out more details and make your pledge here.
In closing, we want to say thank you and congratulations to Marsha Smith, the Executive Director at KBGIB (Keep Brunswick-Golden Isles Beautiful) for her upcoming retirement after 16 years with KBGIB. Since 2011, KBGIB has helped The McGladrey Classic secure wonderful volunteers for our Ecology Program during the tournament. They have been a HUGE asset to the success of our program and extending our green footprint on course. Since Marsha joined their team in 1997, KBGIB's impact and participation in the Golden Isles community has increased ten-fold. Great job, KBGIB! We ook forward to working with your wonderful volunteers again in 2013!
We hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Check back next week for more updates on Team McGladrey and The McGladrey Classic (Nov. 4-10)!
