Golf and Charity - A Winning Combination

Last Saturday (June 15), the Demo Day Fore Charity took place at Sea Island. It was a successful event with great attendance, gorgeous weather and a surprise guest appearance by Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III! The event raised about $2,500 for charity. Golf and giving back in combined...who could ask for a better day?! Those of us here at McGladrey are already looking forward to next year’s event!

A new volunteer spotlight has been released by the Davis Love Foundation: Kim Belt is a local volunteer who works closely with the Davis Love Foundation through both volunteering and through charities, The Gathering Place. Click here to read more about Kim Belt.

Earlier this week, the Davis Love Foundation also announced a few upcoming events they are hosting:
·         DLF is launching a fundraising campaign for our communities newest outreach program with The First Tee.
·         Fri., July 19, join DLF at the Retreat Golf Club for the first annual BREAKFAST AT THE BRITISH event. Enjoy a Scottish inspired breakfast and then join in on an 18-hole team shamble competition. To find out more on what this event entails or to register, click here.
·         Mon., July 22, spend the day with golf’s next generation with Davis Love III’s Junior Open Junior-AM Fundraiser! Learn more and signup here.

With young golfers in mind, a new golf league has kids of all skill levels not only playing the sport in the Golden Isles, but doing so as a team. The area’s own PGA Junior League began play June 12 with teams representing the Sea Island Golf Club, Brunswick Country Club, Jekyll Island Golf Club and The Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Georgia. The league has six teams with three Sea Island teams playing. Mark Love, executive director of the McGladrey Classic said “It’s a new format and a great way to get more kids involved in the game.” Mark Love compared the Junior League to golf’s version of Little League Baseball and said the format helps keeps the pressure off players who may not be as advanced as others on the course. Read more about this youth league and view photos from the inaugural event.
