Giving ‘Congrats’ and Keeping Our Fingers Crossed

Last week, Team McGladrey Member Chris DiMarco was in New Orleans for the Zurich Classic, and he had a lot to say about this year’s winner (and personal friend), Billy Horschel on the Golf Channel:

“What’s amazing about Billy is the belief that he’s got in himself. It knocks out the nerves and anxiousness because he believes in himself so much,” said Chris DiMarco, a former Gator and a mentor for Horschel. “He’s that good. Every time I play with him, I don’t know how he’s not winning every week. This is just the beginning.”

We were crossing our fingers that Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III would be back in time for this week’s Wells Fargo Championship. However, after a practice round last week with brother, Mark, and fellow Team McGladrey Member Zach Johnson, Davis decided it was best to sit out the tournament this year. He’s still hoping to play next week though at THE PLAYERS Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

For those of you who will be at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow or tuning in elsewhere, Zach is in group No. 31, which tees off at 1:05 p.m. today (Thurs., May 2). (Follow the PGA TOUR Shot Tracker.) There’s been a lot of pre-tournament discussions about the condition of the greens at Quail Hollow. We understand that a number of the putting surfaces have patchy brown spots and some have shown speeds inconsistent from the remainder of the course. A number of the players, though, are saying they’re not concerned, and that once play gets underway, there will be other news coming from the tournament. If you’ve been to the course this week or of you plan to go to the tournament, let us know what you think –how does the course look to you?

And speaking of YOU, yesterday (Wed., May 1) marked the opening of registration for new volunteers for this year’s McGladrey Classic at Sea Island! Have you signed up yet? Remember, volunteer slots are being filled on a first come-first serve basis so if you want to support the tournament this year, sign up soon, otherwise you might be added to the waiting list.

And speaking of Sea Island, Demo Day for Charity  is THIS Sat., May 4! Learn more and reserve your spot today. We hope to see you there. It’s a great cause.
