Announcements and Recaps

Earlier today, Tom Watson was named the 2014 U.S. Ryder Cup team captain. Watson will be the oldest captain the U.S. Ryder Cup team has had. It will be interesting to see the mix of old and new styles in Scotland in 2014. Those of us here at McGladrey think Watson is a great choice to succeed Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III. Congratulations from McGladrey!

Speaking of Davis, he and Brandt Snedeker tied for fourth at the Franklin Templeton Shootout this past weekend. The pair started off sharp but as the weekend progressed, unfortunately, they lost some of their early momentum. From the Franklin Templeton Shootout recap, "We put the ball in the fairway all day, but never really got close into the greens," Davis said. "We were 15 to 30 feet all day today, and we weren't as sharp this weekend as we were Friday." Still…we’re proud of Davis and Brandt for their strong finish. Congrats, guys!

This weekend, Davis and his son Dru will be playing in the PNC Father/Son Challenge. Is there a future PGA TOUR player in the making? Tune in and watch on NBC.

Before closing this week, we’d like to remind our readers who live near Sea Island and those who might be visiting, that tomorrow (Dec. 14) is the final day for our Tournament Merchandise sale. Be sure to check out the Corn Barn at Sea Island Golf Club to see what’s left – you just might find the perfect gift for that special someone.

We hope you’ll stop back by next week to get the latest updates on The McGladrey Classic and Team McGladrey.
