Giving Back Through Golf

Did you know that the PGA TOUR focuses on donating a majority of its funds to the communities in which Tournaments are held? In 2012, more than 3,000 different charitable organizations will benefit from the TOUR’s goal of giving back. At McGladrey, we are proud to be the official sponsor of The McGladrey Classic, an official PGA TOUR Fall Series event. The 2011 McGladrey Classic raised $300,000 for Special Olympics and other charitable organizations in Southeast Georgia – that was a 100 percent increase over the $150,000 raised during the inaugural year of the event. We’re looking forward to giving back even more to the community through this year’s event in October. We’d love for you to join us at Sea Island to help with those efforts! www.mcgladreyclassic.com

Speaking of communities, the First Tee National School Program has officially launched in the Golden Isles! Tues., Aug. 7 marked training for all 10 elementary school coaches and teachers. The program begins this fall in elementary schools! Follow along with their progress – NEW First Tee Program.

In wrapping up this week, we want to wish Team McGladrey members Davis Love III and Zach Johnson good luck at the last major of the year, the PGA Championship. Following the conclusion of this week’s tournament, the Ryder Cup team will be one step closer to being formed and the assistant captains will be one step closer to being selected. Ryder Cup Captain, Davis Love III will know eight of his 12 team members once the PGA Championship ends this week. (Team USA standings as of Aug. 5 show that Zach Johnson is currently in sixth place.) We’re looking forward to watching the Ryder Cup, starting Sept. 28 in Medinah, IL. Will you be watching?

We’ll post another update next week, and hope you’ll check back for that.
