Congratulations are in order this week for Team McGladrey Member Zach Johnson who was honored by his alma mater, Drake University, as the school presented the 2007 Masters champion with its prestigious Double D Award. (We understand that Zach even took some time out of his busy schedule to visit some of our McGladrey teammates while he was in Illinois.) The highest honor Drake bestows on its former student-athletes, the Double D Award is given to former letter winners for achievements and contributions to their professions and communities after leaving Drake. You can read more about Zach receiving the honor here. If you’d like to share your own congratulatory messages with Zach, leave those here, and we’ll make sure he gets them.
Congratulations also go to Johnattan Vegas of Venezuela on earning his first PGA TOUR win at the recent Bob Hope Classic. Johnattan is the first rookie to win in Palm Springs in 52 years of the event!
What’s on tap this week? Team McGladrey members Chris DiMarco and Davis Love III are playing in the Farmers Insurance Open Jan. 27-30. Davis is wearing a live microphone during his first round today (Thurs., Jan. 27). You can listen to his on-course commentary during the Golf Channel’s coverage of the first round from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., ET.
Speaking of Davis, he and Rickie Fowler were featured this week in the PGA TOUR’s “The Establishment vs. The New Breed,” one of the new themes for 2011 PGA TOUR , which will choose two select players each week and analyze their chances of heading into the tournament. Check it out here, and let us know what you think.

The entire team here at McGladrey would like to congratulate Team McGladrey member Davis Love III for being named the 2012 Ryder Cup captain!
What do you think about this exciting news? Leave your comments here and we’ll share them with Davis.
We can hardly wait to watch the 2012 Ryder Cup, and to team up with the rest of Team McGladrey at the second McGladrey Classic (Oct. 13 -1 6) this fall to continue our support of the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Georgia and Special Olympics.
Congratulations are also in order for Mark Wilson on his win at last week’s Sony Open in Hawaii. Team McGladrey Member Chris DiMarco is building off of his strong game at the Open and is playing in the Bob Hope Classic this week so. Go, Chris! We’re pulling for you!
Check back next week for another update on Team McGladrey, and check with us regularly throughout the year for updates on the 2011 McGladrey Classic.
Thursday, January 13, 2011
This week, three Team McGladrey members – PGA TOUR Professionals Chris DiMarco, Zach Johnson and Davis Love III are in Hawaii for the 2011 Sony Open, which is being played at the beautiful Waialae Country Club Jan. 13 – 16.
Of course, you know we’re pulling for one of “our guys” to win. Who are you pulling for – a member of Team McGladrey or someone else? Steve Stricker? Chris Kirk? Kyle Stanley? Let us know who you think will win the first PGA TOUR event of the year.
And while Team McGladrey Member Natalie Gulbis isn’t in Hawaii, she did play golf at the Rio Secco Golf Course in her home state of Nevada on her birthday (January 7). You can check out her score card here. Natalie also played in the Morgan & Friends Fight for Cancer golf tournament in Boca Raton recently. The event was a HUGE success, and raised more than $500,000 for breast cancer research.
You can read Morgan Pressel’s moving story about losing her mother to breast cancer and her goal of eradicating this deadly disease here.
Speaking of great causes, we’ll be meeting later this week with our friends from Special Olympics to begin planning for our ongoing support of that organization over the coming year. After all, the next McGladrey Classic is only nine short months away (Oct. 10-16, 2011)!
Finally, 2011 PGA and LPGA TOUR schedules have been posted. You can link to those at:

Check back next week for our next update – things are already ‘rocking and rolling’ this year!
Thursday, January 6, 2011
We’re “back in the saddle” after a wonderful holiday season, and are already beginning our planning for the 2011 McGladrey Classic. We wanted to tee up the year, however, with a few wishes for the New Year from Team McGladrey:
Chris DiMarco – “I look forward to continuing my partnership with McGladrey in 2011, and to returning to Sea Island for the second annual McGladrey Classic in the fall. I’d like to wish a Happy New Year to my fellow Team McGladrey members, to my McGladrey family and to all of the PGA TOUR fans.”
Natalie Gulbis – “2011 is already shaping up to be another wonderful year. I’m looking forward to continuing to be a member of Team McGladrey, and to helping give back to the community through McGladrey-sponsored events.”
Zach Johnson – “2010 was a great year. Just a few of the highlights? Playing in the inaugural McGladrey Classic, my win at Colonial, my participation in The Ryder Cup and, of course, the addition of the newest member of the Johnson family. Here’s to a wonderful 2011!”
Davis Love III – “It was great to join Team McGladrey last year, and to be a part of the inaugural McGladrey Classic. I look forward to continuing this new tradition in 2011, and to seeing fans at Sea Island this October.”
And our wish for a New Year? Peace, prosperity and plenty of golf!
What’s your wish for 2011? We’d love to hear from you.
And while we’re wishing everyone a Happy New Year, we’d like to also wish Team McGladrey Member Natalie Gulbis a Happy Birthday as she celebrates her special day January 7. May all your birthday wishes come true, Natalie!
